特殊構文– category –

特殊構文は、基本的な語順や形から少し外れて、意味の強調・省略・つながりを表す構文です。Never have I seen such a view. のような倒置、It was Ken that broke the window. のような強調構文、If possible, ... のような省略、I think などの挿入、the fact that ... のような同格が代表です。

倒置は、普通の語順とは違って、主語と動詞・助動詞の位置が入れ替わる構文です。疑問文の Do you know ...?、場所を表す Here comes the bus.、否定語句の Never have I seen ... などが代表です。

否定語句や制限を表す語句が文頭に出ると、後ろで倒置が起こることがあります。Never have I seen such a view. / Hardly had I arrived when it began to rain. / Not only did he apologize, but he also explained the reason. などが代表です。
